Pina Marziliano — Wed, 09 Dec 2015 06:16:09 +0000

A NEW PLATFORM FOR ARTS AND CREATIVE PROFESSIONALS

Arts Drinks is a new monthly networking initiative event to connect arts and creative professionals working in Singapore to wider opportunities for explorations beyond their usual reach locally and internationally. Arts Drinks launches on December 10, 2015 at Ricciotti Italian Restaurant in the central heart of Singapore’s new museum district.

Art Drinks is then slated to be held monthly on every second Tuesday beginning February 2016 from 7:00pm – 9:00pm. Each edition will highlight an artist, designer or creative team to share insights from their practice. The venue Ricciotti provides a meeting place as well as focal point for people to talk, learn, challenge and share experiences that are important to working arts and creative professionals in Asia.

“When we conceived Ricciotti, our ambition was to create a more complete experience, embracing other aspects of Italy’s interesting lifestyle such as modern art, music, design and other cultural experiences.” – Ottavio Gori, Managing Director Ricciotti

GUEST FEATURED ARTIST

Peter Arnoud Bensen is a professional artist and designer specializing in woodwork, furniture and sculptures. Born in the Netherlands, Bensen became a sub seas diving engineer trained by the Dutch Special Forces. His 21 year career in the underwater environment presented experiences of the raw power, danger and beauty of the ocean which taught him to work with nature rather than destroy or fight it. This new perspective is Bensen’s main principle for his art and design practice after retiring from professional diving.

Pina Marziliano — Wed, 11 Mar 2015 16:11:51 +0000

Design Thinking: Creating Impactful Products was a Talk organised by IDALabs : Partner Event of the Singapore Design Week organised by the Singapore Design Council.

As Singapore moves towards becoming a Smart Nation, IDA is placing greater emphasis on encouraging a culture of creating and building. Through resources provided by IDA Labs, companies and individuals have access to tools, prototyping equipment, and latest hardware technologies to test-bed new ideas, build prototypes, thus speeding up the development of new products and services. They organise and host community events like these to bring together the entrepreneurs, engineers and designers interested in building a hardware start-up.

PABensen presented a 30minute segment entitled “The Fusion of Art and Science – Creating Sleek, Functional, and Innovative Products” sharing their experience and inspiring the participants to think about incorporating these Design Thinking principles as they build a product and business strategy.
